Central Indiana’s public media station, WFYI, seeks an intern with strong knowledge and understanding of the digital media landscape, including various digital platforms. WFYI actively shares local and national content across a wide range of platforms, from daily news stories to epic documentaries, to support our mission of providing trusted journalism, inspiring stories and lifelong learning.

The intern hired for this position will need strong critical thinking skills, a creative spirit and a collaborative workstyle to integrate into our vibrant and passionate team, who are very excited to share this opportunity with an intern hoping to gain extensive online experience.

Responsibilities

• Support daily, weekly and evergreen promotion of national and local television, radio and digital programs
• Amplify opportunities for donation and underwriting revenue
• Monitor and post on social media and content platforms
• Collaborate with cross-department content, marketing and development teams with a focus on audience needs
• Utilize copy and graphic templates to create daily posts
• Assist with online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and more
• Potential focus projects: YouTube strategy development, influencer marketing, data analysis, identification of opportunities on emerging platforms

Qualifications

• College coursework in marketing, business, communication or related field
• Two+ years of experience with internet and social media platforms
• Energetic, collaborative and creative
• Hard-working and team-oriented
• Experience using digital platforms such as social media management and Canva or similar graphic design tools
• Strong writing skills
