POSITION TITLE: Sr. Staff Accountant

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Finance and Accounting Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

 



POSITION PURPOSE

This position serves a wide variety of stakeholders. Assignments include a wide range of constantly evolving activities and projects. Specialized skills, including but not limited to technical and organizational skills are important as this position is a key contributor to the coordination, maintenance, and delivery of timely, accurate and consistent financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cash Receipts and Accounts Receivable Management, including but not limited to directly providing basic functions such as:
    • Creates and submits invoices to customers
    • Maintains and updates related records
    • Prepares, posts, verifies, and records payments and transactions related to cash receipts and accounts receivable
    • Producing related reporting
    • Other activities involved in day-to-day management of cash receipts and accounts receivable
 
  • Cash Disbursements and Accounts Payable Management, including but not limited to, directly providing basic functions such as:
    • Company card and employee reimbursement management
    • Prepares, posts, verifies, and records payments and transactions related to cash disbursements and accounts payable
    • Purchase order processing and tracking
    • Other activities involved in the day-to-day management of cash disbursement and accounts payable

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Ad Hoc Assistance
    • Audit and/or tax work papers
    • Financial and accounting analysis
    • Journal entries
    • Various financial and accounting reconciliations
    • Special Projects
  • Cross training to provide back-up for other accounting personnel on an as needed basis
  • Financial Reporting
    • Work closely with other WFYI stakeholders to ensure information is being accurately and consistently classified in the appropriate accounts
    • Performs other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience

 

Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
  • 1-3+ years of finance or accounting experience required
