Description

WFYI’s digital marketing intern contributes to audience acquisition and activation for WFYI’s products, services and brand. Through timely, engaging and accurate digital marketing, this intern will learn how to help WFYI deliver marketing content directly to social media channels, wfyi.org and other digital places. Additionally, the intern will gain experience working within a brand design system to support overall marketing efforts by practicing the population and publishing of visual and copy templates on digital platforms.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To be successful in this role, an individual will learn to accurately, satisfactorily, and timely perform the functions listed below.
 

Creative Skills

  • Gain experience crafting engaging, platform-specific copy for social media
  • Learn how to populate and submit visual assets for team review
  • Master email marketing skills with copy writing, content curation and visual template population
  • Shadow and learn about impact reporting on digital marketing efforts

Strategy

  • Learn how to work on digital lead generation activities for overall station goals
  • Get experience with engagement and platform growth strategy on digital platforms
  • Have the chance to gain insights into the development of landing pages and other priority digital user experiences for wfyi.org


OTHER ACTIVITIES

  • Attend WFYI marketing and communications team meetings
  • Learn about multi-platform audience growth
  • Participate fully in WFYI's internship program activities


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience
 

Required

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Experience, through coursework or external training, with social media marketing, content management systems and/or email marketing tools
  • Strongly self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines

Preferred

  • Experience with design software (Canva, Adobe)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • A valid US driver's license and ability to drive to locations within Indianapolis or access to alternate transportation

  • Ability to focus on details, handle multiple tasks, and remain highly organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and grasp industry-related regulatory requirements
  • Ability to make recommendations to effectively solve problems, using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations, and/or government law
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong knowledge of and advanced experience using Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
