The Human Resource Intern (remote from Purdue University) will assist with human resource activities for WFYI. Intern will work closely with the HR and finance teams for a hands-on learning experience.
The WFYI internship program provides participants with robust experiences to use their existing skills and to add new skills to their portfolios. Internships are available throughout the organization and offer additional opportunities for exploration and access to other departments beyond the assignment, as well as professional development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the essential functions and responsibilities listed below.
- Acquire skills in developing a recruitment, onboarding and offboarding process
- Discover various communication tools in speaking with employees
- Assist with various benefit related tasks
- Learn about the company’s HR policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related information to be able to help in responding to employee requests
- Complete one HR related project during internship
- Attend weekly HR meetings and others that may be required from time to time
- Shadow the HR team with our DEI initiative work with the organization
- Gain an understanding of payroll and budget systems with the Finance team and HR
- Participate in process and workflow creation and updates in HR
- Learn to create HR-related reports in payroll, recruitment, and metrics
Performs other duties/projects as assigned
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have the following education and/or experience unless otherwise noted below.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources, employment law, or related field from Purdue University in West Lafayette.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

The role is mostly remote, with the expectation that the selected student is able to commute to our downtown Indianapolis station 1-3 times per month (estimated).
